Blue Hydrophilic Air Conditioner Foil

May 7, 2026

As the technical director responsible for air conditioning foil production at Haomei Aluminum, drawing on our 12 years of professional manufacturing and global export experience, today we will focus on analyzing blue hydrophilic air conditioning foil—a functional material specifically designed for air conditioner heat exchanger fins. With its excellent hydrophilic properties, long-lasting corrosion resistance, and stable molding characteristics, it has served over 60 air conditioner manufacturers worldwide, covering residential, commercial, and specialty air conditioning sectors. It has passed stringent certifications such as EU RoHS, US UL, and ISO9227 salt spray testing, becoming a core choice for improving air conditioner energy efficiency and lifespan.

The core of blue hydrophilic air conditioning aluminium foil is subdivided according to air conditioner type, operating environment, and fin structure, rejecting generic designs and perfectly matching actual operating conditions.

Our residential air conditioner foil prioritizes a balance between lightweight design and cost, with thicknesses ranging from 0.09-0.12mm. It’s compatible with the evaporators and condensers of 1-5 HP split and cabinet air conditioners. Customer tests of our products show a 99.7% fin stamping pass rate and a 5%-8% improvement in heat exchange efficiency.

Our commercial air conditioner foil focuses on high corrosion resistance and high thermal conductivity, with a thickness of 0.12-0.15mm. Utilizing a double-layer coating process, it’s compatible with the fins of 10-100 HP central air conditioning and chiller units, and has been applied in large commercial building air conditioning projects.

Our special environment foil is customized for coastal and industrially polluted areas, with a thickness of 0.15-0.20mm. It features a reinforced anti-corrosion coating, passing over 1000 hours of neutral salt spray testing, solving fin corrosion problems in high-salt and high-humidity environments. Products exported to coastal countries have a service life extended by more than 5 years.

The precision of the blue hydrophilic air conditioner aluminium foil directly determines the heat exchanger’s performance and production efficiency. We rely on a four-roll precision rolling mill and a fully automated coating production line to establish comprehensive specification standards.

For alloy selection, the mainstream choices are 8011 and 3102 alloys. 8011 alloy (aluminum content ≥99.0%) emphasizes formability and is suitable for complex fin stamping; 3102 alloy (containing manganese) emphasizes corrosion resistance and is suitable for harsh environment applications, accounting for over 90% of total production capacity.

Thickness specifications cover 0.08-0.20mm, with tolerances precisely controlled within ±0.002mm, solving industry pain points such as thin foil being prone to wrinkling and thick foil having poor thermal conductivity.

Width covers 140-1300mm and can be customized according to fin molds.

The core adopts the 76mm/152mm international standard, compatible with mainstream global fin production lines.

In terms of coating, a double-layer structure is adopted: the bottom layer is a chromated anti-corrosion layer (film weight 1.0-1.5g/㎡), and the top layer is a blue hydrophilic coating (film weight 2.5-4.0g/㎡), with a contact angle ≤10°, ensuring rapid diffusion of condensate into a film.

The temper is controlled as H22/H24 semi-hard state, with a hardness of HV45-60 and an elongation ≥20%, meeting the requirements of high-speed fin stamping and flanging.

The core competitiveness of the blue hydrophilic air conditioner foil stems from the material properties and our process optimization, perfectly adapting to the core requirements of air conditioning heat exchangers.

Regarding hydrophilic performance, through nano-level coating technology, the condensate contact angle is ≤10°, forming a uniform water film that drains quickly, eliminating the “water bridge” phenomenon. Actual measured heat exchange efficiency is improved by 5%-12%, while dripping noise is reduced by 3-5dB, improving the user experience.

In terms of corrosion resistance, it adopts a chromium-free passivation + organic coating composite process, achieving 720-1000 hours of neutral salt spray testing, more than three times that of ordinary foil. This effectively resists corrosion from air conditioner condensate, dust, and industrial exhaust gases, reducing the fin failure rate to below 0.08%.

Regarding thermal conductivity, the coating’s thermal resistance is ≤0.0001m²·K/W, ensuring the full utilization of the 8011 alloy’s basic thermal conductivity of 201W/(m·K), which is 2%-3% higher than ordinary coated aluminum foil.

For antibacterial and anti-mildew properties, the coating incorporates nano-silver ions, passing the ASTM G21 mold test, inhibiting bacterial growth in condensate and improving the air quality of the air conditioner’s output.

Combining production practice and export experience, the practical advantages of blue hydrophilic air conditioning foil are integrated throughout the entire supply chain, providing customers with cost-effective solutions.

On the production side, we achieve large-scale continuous production, with coil lengths ranging from 6000-10000m, reducing the number of roll changes for customers and shortening roll changedown time by 30%. We also employ online coating thickness monitoring, keeping the defect rate below 0.05%.

On the application side, compared to ordinary optical foil, the blue hydrophilic foil improves the energy efficiency ratio of air conditioners by 5%-8%, meeting energy-saving standards such as EU ERP and US Energy Star, helping customers gain market access. It is also compatible with high-speed fin stamping (up to 1200 strokes/minute), resulting in no coating peeling or burrs, and increasing production efficiency by 15%.

In terms of cost advantage, through optimized coating formulation, material usage is reduced by 10%, resulting in export FOB prices that are 6%-10% lower than comparable manufacturers, while extending heat exchanger lifespan by 3-5 years and reducing after-sales costs for customers.

Regarding export compatibility, our products have obtained EU RoHS, REACH, and US UL certifications. We have optimized the environmentally friendly coating formulation for the North American market, complying with California Proposition 65 requirements, with annual exports exceeding 4000 tons.

As an export-oriented company, we leverage years of experience exporting air conditioning foil to provide customized technical services to global clients. We can customize coating thickness and formulations to address regional climate differences. For example, we optimize high-temperature coatings (withstanding 120℃) for Middle Eastern clients and enhance low-temperature performance (no cracking at -30℃) for Nordic clients. We also provide guidance on fin forming parameters for commercial air conditioning clients, reducing trial production losses. Currently, our blue hydrophilic air conditioning foil has been exported to over 30 countries and regions in Southeast Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and North America, gaining long-term cooperation and recognition from well-known air conditioning manufacturers such as LG and Panasonic.Haomei Aluminum’s blue hydrophilic air conditioning foil, with its core features of high-efficiency hydrophilicity and long-lasting corrosion resistance, combined with precise specifications and large-scale production advantages, provides air conditioning manufacturers with high-performance, highly stable fin material solutions. Whether you need a cost-effective solution for residential air conditioning or customized materials for special environments, we can provide full-process technical support from material selection and specification customization to mass production, helping your products enhance their core competitiveness and expand into global markets.
