Aluminium Foil For Cigarette Inner Wrapping

July 8, 2026

The aluminum foil for cigarette inner wrapping is a core barrier determining the shelf life and flavor stability of cigarettes, rather than simply a decorative lining. Haomei Aluminum has specifically optimized the alloy system, rolling process, and composite technology of its 40-65g/㎡ aluminum foil for the inner packaging scenario where cigarettes come into direct contact. Its products cover all scenarios including soft pack linings, hard pack linings, and carton linings. With its stable barrier performance and high-speed line compatibility, it is exported to tobacco manufacturers in over twenty countries worldwide.

The aluminum foil layer uniformly uses 1235-O state fully soft aluminum alloy with an aluminum purity ≥99.35%. It is rolled to 6-6.5μm using a four-roll reversible precision rolling process, with closed-loop control of rolling oil viscosity and roll temperature throughout the process. The finished product has uniform grain size and a stable elongation of over 22%. Compared to ordinary industrial aluminum foil, our cigarette aluminium foil product features enhanced pinhole control specifically for the high-frequency folding process of inner packaging. The finished product has a pinhole density of ≤0.8 pins/m², with each pinhole diameter strictly controlled within 0.1mm. Actual measurements show a water vapor transmission rate of ≤0.28g/(m²·24h) and an oxygen transmission rate of ≤0.45cm³/(m²·24h·atm), effectively locking in volatile aroma components from the tobacco and preventing the intrusion of external moisture and odors. O-state annealing gives the material excellent folding resistance; after five 180° folds, the barrier properties decrease by ≤3%, perfectly adapting to the multiple folding processes in cigarette pack forming, avoiding the risk of air leakage and aroma loss at folds.

Depending on the customer’s inner packaging process, we offer two mature solutions: plain aluminum foil and gold/silver coating. The base layer uses 38-60g food-grade long-fiber paper, employing a water-based, solvent-free dry lamination process. It boasts a peel strength ≥1.5N/15mm, eliminating the risk of delamination during the pulling and folding processes of high-speed packaging. The gold and silver coated versions use food-grade water-based gravure inks, with a coating thickness controlled at 1.5-2μm. The color difference within the same batch is ΔE ≤1.0, and the surface tension is stable at 38-42dyn/cm, allowing for subsequent embossing, hot stamping, and other secondary processing. All coating materials meet food contact material safety standards, eliminating the risk of solvent and heavy metal migration, ensuring safety even when in direct contact with cigarettes.

For different inner packaging forms, we have precisely divided the weight gradients:

40-45g is suitable for soft pack liners, with moderate stiffness and smooth folding, compatible with mainstream low-to-medium speed soft pack production lines in Southeast Asia;

48-55g is suitable for hard pack liners, maintaining stiffness at 90-110 g·cm, forming a firm shape and not easily collapsing, the main specification in the Middle East and Latin America markets;

60-65g is mostly used for carton inner packaging, with superior tear resistance.

Finished product slitting uses a servo CNC system, with a width tolerance of ±0.15mm, and a standard width covering 80-115mm; each roll has ≤1 splice, which is marked, compatible with high-speed packaging equipment such as German Focke and Italian GD, with an on-board scrap rate of ≤0.03% at 800 packs/minute, significantly reducing roll changedowns and material losses.

In entire production process, we sampling and testing of three core indicators: thickness, pinholes, and peel strength, achieving batch stability CPK≥1.33. Each batch of products comes with a complete test report and a unique traceability code, allowing for the tracking of raw material furnace number, rolling parameters, and data throughout the entire composite process. Products are packaged in moisture-proof, sealed packaging with fumigated wooden pallets, suitable for ocean shipping. The standard order delivery time is 12-15 days. Customization options such as embossing and anti-counterfeiting patterns are available, and adjustments to moisture content and stiffness can be made based on the climate characteristics of the customer’s region.
